OUR STORY
Nearly Half of the World's Tea Originates in China
According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), global tea production in 2022 reached about 29.8 million metric tons. China alone contributed 14.53 million metric tons – approximately 49% of the world’s total. This dominant position ensures a strong foundation for the consistent quality and reliable supply of Chinese teas.
China’s rich tea heritage is cultivated in many historic tea mountains. For example:
- Wuyi Mountain began cultivating tea as early as the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) and has a tea-growing history stretching back over 1,300 years.
- Phoenix Mountain tea gardens trace their origins to the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), with a continuous production legacy of more than 900 years.
- Yellow Mountain also started planting tea in the Tang Dynasty, and its tea culture spans over 1,300 years.
These legendary mountains are where we hand-pick the leaves for our exceptional teas.

We only offer whole-leaf tea—no broken leaves or tea dust.

Our Founder Story
Tea has been woven into the fabric of my life since childhood. Born and raised in China, I grew up watching my parents—dedicated tea drinkers for over 40 years—savor their daily cups. I had my first taste at the age of five, and to this day, I enjoy at least 5 to 8 cups daily. For me, tea is far more than a beverage—it’s a deeply ingrained ritual and passion.
As someone deeply immersed in China’s tea culture, I became intrigued by global tea trends and what was commonly found in markets abroad. Through conversations with international friends and exploring offerings online, I noticed something striking: the tea most accessible overseas often came as broken leaves or powder. In China, tea enthusiasts like myself cherish high-quality, intact whole-leaf teas for their nuanced flavor and beautiful unfurling. This appreciation is deeply rooted in China’s status as the world’s top tea producer and its centuries-old tea heritage.
This sparked an idea: why not share the distinctive character and rich heritage of authentic Chinese whole-leaf tea directly with the world? I discussed this vision with friends abroad. While they loved the idea of trying premium Chinese tea, they shared honest concerns: “We’d love authentic tea,” they said, “but traditional brewing seems complex—it involves too many tools and steps. We want amazing taste without the hassle. And while we know China has many teas, we really enjoy a good black tea.”
Their perspective was invaluable and completely understandable—and that’s when the solution clicked.

What if I created premium tea bags using those very high-grade Chinese whole leaves? And what if I took it a step further by masterfully blending teas—like combining the smooth richness of Jin Jun Mei black tea with the fragrant complexity of Dan Cong oolong? This approach would bring the essence of premium Chinese tea to everyone, eliminating the need for special equipment or brewing expertise. Skillful blending also allows us to craft uniquely layered flavor profiles and deeper aromas, making the discovery of fine Chinese tea effortless and rewarding.
This refined concept truly resonated. My friends were eager to try it—and their reaction upon tasting it was incredibly enthusiastic. They were captivated by the unique aromas and sophisticated flavors of each blend, eagerly exploring every sample. Every cup offered a distinct and delightful experience, unlike any tea they’d encountered before.
Their positive feedback drove the final development of our product and packaging. We craft our tea bags from plant-based, compostable corn fiber for sustainability. To ensure the delicate whole leaves arrive perfect and stay fresh, we protect them in sturdy, recyclable metal tins that prevent crushing. With this foundation in place, I launched our website, proudly introducing these premium Chinese whole-leaf tea blends to the world—and we’ve been passionately sharing more of China’s finest teas ever since.
We’re delighted and proud to see more people discovering the delicious taste of whole-leaf tea.
Why Our Name Is “TEA CLIMBER”
To source exceptional teas, we journey across China’s most renowned ancient tea mountains—Wuyi, Phoenix, and Huangshan. These mist-shrouded peaks have nurtured tea cultivation for centuries, where wild tea trees thrive in pristine ecosystems, drawing deep nourishment from untouched soils.
Working alongside local tea masters, we use time-honored harvesting techniques to preserve every leaf’s integrity. When steeped, the leaves slowly unfurl—reviving nature’s living essence in your cup.
“Tea Climber” embodies this journey. Each leaf is handpicked from these sacred peaks. Like a climber ascending toward purity, we seek teas that honor nature’s craft and uncompromising quality.
We also celebrate the dedication of our farmers—those scaling steep slopes under hot sun (up to 102°F/39°C), carefully harvesting whole leaves while insects hum in the mountain air.
To sustain this legacy, Tea Climber directs 15% of every sale to farming communities, ensuring whole-leaf tea traditions thrive. Your support makes this possible. With every cup, we promise tea that’s authentically crafted, wholly natural, and truly exceptional.
