Tea

Where does your tea come from?

All of our teas are sourced from China, primarily hand-picked from some of the country’s most renowned tea-growing regions, including Wuyi Mountain in Fujian, Phoenix Mountain in Chaozhou, Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) in Anhui, and Fengqing in Yunnan.

Our tea comes packaged in premium opaque iron canisters that seal out air and block light, helping to preserve its quality. For the best flavor and aroma, we recommend enjoying it within six months—because even under ideal storage, tea will gradually lose some of its fragrance over time.

TEA CLIMBER offers both convenient tea bags and premium loose-leaf teas. Here’s how to brew each:

Tea Bags

  • Hot Brew

    1. Drop one tea bag into your cup.

    2. Pour in 8–12 fl oz of boiling water (212 °F).

    3. Steep for 2–4 minutes, then remove the bag.

    4. For a stronger brew, let it steep a bit longer—but beware it can turn bitter if you go past about 3 minutes.

  • Cold Brew

    1. Place a tea bag in a glass or pitcher.

    2. Add 16 fl oz of room-temperature water.

    3. Cover and refrigerate at about 39 °F for 4–8 hours.

    4. Remove the bag and enjoy your smooth, refreshing tea.

Loose-Leaf Tea

  • Hot Brew

    1. Add 2.7 g of loose-leaf tea to a teapot with an infuser or strainer.

    2. Pour in 12 fl oz of boiling water (212 °F).

    3. Steep for 2–3 minutes, then strain into your cup.

  • Cold Brew

    1. Fill a reusable tea infuser or mesh bag with 2.7 g of loose-leaf tea.

    2. Place it in a glass or pitcher and add 16 fl oz of room-temperature water.

    3. Refrigerate at about 39 °F for 4–8 hours.

    4. Remove the infuser and savor your cold-brewed tea.

Enjoy!

Tea can turn bitter for a few common reasons:

  • Oversteeping
The longer tea leaves steep, the more tannins (tea polyphenols) and caffeine they release. If you brew beyond the recommended 2–4 minutes, you’ll notice a sharp increase in bitterness and astringency.

  • Using Too Much Tea
Tea strength is directly proportional to leaf quantity. If you’re using TEA CLIMBER loose-leaf tea, scooping in too many leaves will give you an overly concentrated—and therefore more bitter—cup.

  • Water Quality
Hard tap water with high mineral content—or “old” water that’s been boiled and reboiled—can draw out harsher flavors in tea. For the cleanest taste, use purified water or filtered spring water.

  • Taste Contrast After Sweets
If you drink tea right after eating something very sweet, the contrast in flavors can make the tea seem more bitter than it actually is. It’s best to let your palate reset before sipping your tea.

Green tea has a lower caffeine content compared to black tea and oolong.

The biggest difference between our products lies in their aroma and taste.

For example, Bee’s Favorite Tea features a strong honey scent and finishes with the sweet, lingering aftertaste of Dan Cong oolong. Tropical Breeze Tea delivers bright, fruity notes and a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. And Butterfly’s Favorite Tea carries floral and fresh-cut grass aromas, leaving your senses filled with the essence of spring.

If you’re using our tea bags, you won’t need any special tea tools. Just place the tea bag in a cup, add water, let it steep for a few minutes, and enjoy.

We partner with multigenerational tea families in China’s premier mountain-growing regions—remote, biodiverse areas cultivated for centuries. Farmers here employ traditional ecological methods: hand-tending each plant, applying natural pest control, and protecting the land’s integrity.

As the birthplace of tea, China’s 3,000-year legacy guides our partners’ deep-rooted growing knowledge. Their commitment to stewardship results in small-batch teas with distinctive terroir and reliably complex character.

About TEA CLIMBER

Why Create TEA CLIMBER?

We want everyone to enjoy premium whole-leaf Chinese tea in the simplest way possible. Whole leaves offer a richer, more complex flavor compared to broken tea or tea dust. As the leaves gently unfurl in hot water, you’ll experience both the elegance of tea culture and the beauty of nature in every cup.

Learn more about our story.

We believe great tea starts with great choices—and that begins long before it reaches your cup. Our sourcing team carefully inspects and selects each batch of tea with close attention to detail. Even within the same variety, subtle differences in harvest timing and processing can greatly affect flavor and quality. We hold ourselves to high standards, so if a tea doesn’t make the cut, we keep searching until we find one that truly stands out.
